Uwe Freyberger writes: Hi Everybody. Here is a photo taken on the famous crossing. During our five day trip to London we visited Abbey Road on 29/03/2006 in the afternoon. We are from Hof in Germany (Bavaria). Our three children remained at home with grandma and grandpa - so we had our first vacation as a couple since over 15 years. The traffic on this afternoon was so busy that this one picture has become the only good photo from a series of ten - showing my wife Susanne, but from the wrong direction! The pictures taken of me are worse! Anyhow we are very proud of being on this site. Best regards - Uwe Freyberger. --- Don't worry Uwe! We know how difficult it can be trying to get a good photo without being attacked by a car! You'll just have to come back some time and try again! |
Carlos Vitagliano sent us the following note and five of his photos: My name is Carlos Vitagliano.......... |
.......... and my wife is called Belmira Margarido........ |
....We are Brazilian and from São Paulo. On 27 March we were able to walk and get to know Abbey Road........ |
.....The area is very pleasant and the street has a special charm......... |
......We then enjoyed a hot chocolate and bought some souvenirs in the Abbey Road Café |
From our friends in Ireland we received the following: Hello there. You might remember us boys from the summer of 2004. We were the ones who tried to recreate our own Abbey Road at UCD in Dublin. Well we've kept our promise of doing it for real and here is the result (Take 3). Take 2 does feature bare feet but it was a botched effort as you can see. The last photo is just a bonus pic of us waiting for a break in the traffic. Anyway, we'd better fully introduce ourselves............. |
.......From the left we start with Paul McGee, a keen unemployed golfer from the wilderness of County Donegal. He just oozes George Harrison doesn't he? If you don't think so, look harder. Next, is Mr Brian Carr. An ex-pat who left Irish shores almost a year ago to pursue a Masters degree in London i.e. to avoid actual work for another year. Without him and his lodgings this might of happened. He has also been referred to as the Good Looking One, so he slotted nicely into the Paul role. Ringo is played by a certain Mark Townsend. A member of a band himself, The Harmless Maniacs, his true passion lies in Hedge Fund Accounting. Well he has to think that or he wouldn't get through the day. Finally there is Diarmaid O' Neill, the Fund Administrator, complete with the coup de grace - the white suit. Actually, the suit really grabbed the imagination of the other few tourists there. They all wanted to walk across with us, so we had our little bit of Beatlemania........... |
........Of course we have to thank our ever so brave photographer who produced the goods without the aid of police stopping the traffic. Mary Bridgeman (girlfriend of Brian) put her life on the line to recreate the summer of 1969 and didn't she do a great job. Well there you go, we hope you enjoy our own Abbey Road shoot. Who knows? The Harmless Maniac might create some music to go with it. Regards, Diarmaid, Mark, Brian & Paul. |
And from Arthur Hooijer: It was 31st March 2006. Again some weird people walked The Crossing! We noticed almost every 10 minutes some people arriving to see The Crossing............... |
........ We took the picture of a group of three people who had to borrow someone to make four............. |
...........And indeed one guy went barefoot. (This guy was so enthousiastic that he almost ran under a big bus. There were girls writing things on the white wall of the studio, and ................ |
........and then my son Hugo and I (Arthur) of course crossed the Abbey Road after so many years since I bought the record. His style was better than mine. It was nice to visit Abbey Road. Greetings -- Arthur Hooijer |
Here's a neat little bit of fun someone has had playing with Photoshop! Tony Rodriguez writes: Dressed for the Xing (w/a little help from two friends!). --- Tony Rodriguez (Paul) and Manny Llano (George) from Miami, Florida planned for this crossing for months ahead. Very cool! Actually, it was very COLD! --- New Years Day - January 1, 2005. Thanks! Tony Rodriguez |
On 16th April 2006 Arturo and Yuko Ceja - from Mexico City - ............ |
.............. began their Beatles adventure in London by going on the London Walks 'Magical Mystery Tour' ................. |
.............. which finishes with a visit to the crossing and studios at Abbey Road. |
And now, from a rather disappointed Klaus: Hi. Here is a photo of my walk in September 2004 when I came to London to became a famous artist. Now, still fame-less but with a nice photo which I want to send you. I am Klaus from Mülheim/Germany and the only member of the fameless Claude's One Man Band. |
Jaroslav Kedroò is from the Czech Republic............ |
...........He visited Abbey Road on April 3rd 2006 at 5:42 in the afternoon.......... |
...............He was particularly pleased to find a road sign made in the style of that used on the back cover of the famous Beatles album. Many thanks for sending the photos Jaroslav. |
